About Us

Welcome to Thetford Radio.com

ThetfordRadio.com - An online radio station providing entertainment locally and to the world by local DJs. Our aim is to try and help connect the community across the airwaves.

This has all been set up as I found myself out of work being self-employed with DJing and Wedding Discos being postponed or cancelled in these unprecedented times, and this seemed the best way to carry on and adapt to keep the music playing! Matt Larcombe is part of the team to help behind the scenes and has his own DJ show on the airwaves on Saturday Nights too. We aim to grow this and continue to help the community connect even after things go back to some normality.

The music range played on the station is very wide from the 60s all the way up to the current charts. The request show helps to fulfil this but we are hoping to get dedicated shows in niche areas too, for example we have DJs interested in running an 80s & 90s show, a 70s show and a talk show. We have just had an enquiry in for a faith show so that would be fantastic to help them broadcast and reach people especially in these difficult times.

When we don’t have Live Shows, the Auto DJ is running so we never have ‘dead air’ and visitors can check their apps or players are working okay. We are looking for more DJs to fill the shows, if you are interested please read this first Your Own Show. We broadcast at a 128 kbps bitrate which provides good sound quality to our audience. The best way of listening is through the apps and you can find links to these on our website here. We are also available on Alexa. There are instructions on how to set this up here.

Things to come - We are looking into all sorts of shows including some exciting interactive shows. Starting with a simple request show and then to a quiz that you and your family can join along with. Currently just for fun but we hope to get some sponsors to help with this eventually.

A Spotlight Show will be coming soon to help support local acts and businesses by introducing them to our listeners.  We also have our forum on our website where everyone can join in and interact during each show, this will be not only great for requests but also our Spotlight feature with the topic set up weekly with the various web links to each local business or act. We already have some bands and acts sending in their promos, which is great!

We value artists around the world. By paying to broadcast through the Live365 platform we are covered for licensing through both PPL and PRS for Music and both are needed legally here in the UK to broadcast online.

In addition it also covers U.S. licensing through ASCAPBMISESAC, and SoundExchange and Canadian licensing through SOCAN and Re:Sound.

Thanks for reading, hope to have you tune in soon, take care and stay safe, Neil Garrod
